Story

After one and a half lifetimes of patiently guarding the treasure, the 137-year-old protector opens the chest only to find a note that reads: "This is what you get for hitting on my sister" Immediately, several trapdoors open, and 30 horrible monsters flood the corridors. He dusts off his trusty sword and prepares to slash his way out of this dungeon.

- What you need

  • A standard 50 cards Spanish-suited deck
  • An 8-sided dice
  • Something to count from 20 to 0 (Like a spindown D20 or a piece of paper). This will be your life counter.

- Set up

  • Set your life counter to 20
  • Shuffle the deck
  • Draw 4 cards face-up on the table

- Play

The player turn goes as follows:

  1. Chose one of the four face-up cards
  2. Resolve the effect of that card type and value
  3. Move all the cards that you have interacted with to a pile, called the score pile
  4. Draw the necessary cards to have 4 face-up on the table again

Card types

There a 4 types of cards:

Monsters (Swords & Clubs)

  • Choosing this type of card counts as an attack
  • You must roll the die, the damage will be equal to that card's value minus the result of the roll
  • Subtract the damage from your life counter

Coins (Coins)

  • Coin cards serve as currency
  • You can choose to put that card in your hand or move it to the discard pile.

Potions (Cups)

  • Potions can be purchased to heal your life
  • To purchase a potion you need to discard a coin card equal or greater than the value of that potion
  • You can purchase multiple potions of the current four cards with a single coin card or use multiple coin cards to purchase one potion
  • Once purchased, add the value of the potion card to your life counter
  • Your life can not be more than 20

Crystal Ball (Joker) You can view the top five cards of the deck and put them back, however you want, on the top and bottom of the deck.

Bosses

  • Any card with values 10, 11, or 12 is considered a boss
  • If you choose a boss card you must fight it, no matter its type
  • After the boss is defeated, resolve the effect of that card type
  • Potion bosses do not need to be purchased

- Dying

  • When your life gets to zero it's game over
  • You must put the monster that has killed you, along with all your hand, to the score pile
  • The number of cards in your score pile is your final score

- Winning

IT is possible to kill all the monsters without dying and "win" the game, but a combination of good luck and excellent resource management is required.

It's recommended to aim for a high score instead of clearing the whole dungeon.

- Hardmode

If you think you have what it takes to turn up the difficulty, replace the D8 with a D6 and let hell loose.

Good luck
